Abstract :
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Assurance (IA) Program has endeavored to leverage the scientific method to its experimentation approach. Science-based experimentation provides a proven methodology for exploration of complex problems through construction and validation of a model when well-defined models do not exist. Experiments conducted under the IA program are designed based upon scientific merit, program relevance, and a carefully formulated hypothesis that is supported or refuted through experimental testing. A key property to science-based experimentation is the ability to independently verify results by repeating the process. Until now, the IA Program has never addressed the issue of repeatability. The experiment presented explores this concept of experimental confirmation and the process of successfully and independently repeating a previously executed IA program experiment
