Abstract :
A simple scheme for asymmetry compensation in optical read channels is presented in this study. The simplicity and yet the effectiveness of this scheme makes it an excellent candidate for a practical implementation. The simulation results show that the use of such a compensator significantly reduces the bit-error rate (BER) at the detector output, especially for optical channels with severe asymmetry
