Abstract :
Synchronization patterns aperiodically embedded in data may result from applications such as compression of video. In this work a metric for detection of these patterns is derived by modifying Massey´s (1972) metric for decoding of variable-length codes. Transmission over the AWGN channel using M-ary modulation is considered and detection results are shown
