Abstract :
We propose a shared knockout ATM switch under non-uniform traffic with variable hot-spot ports in order to handle flexibly when the number and port of the hot-spot change. In the proposed model systems share a batcher network in order to decrease the total number of switch elements. Moreover, the proposed model has a function that the maximum cell transmission number called a speedup factor L2 is set to be larger than the lower limit of the number of arrival cells L1 , i.e, L1<L2. By using this function, it is effective to decrease the cell loss probability of hot-spot ports with decreasing accesses to output buffers. We evaluate the cell loss probability by means of computer simulations and numerical calculations, and the number of switching elements
