Abstract
Previous work has shown how simple edge resource management can yield the desired QoS for multimedia services. This document shows how cloud based network resource management can be accomplished in the hierarchical network architecture of the Internet. It shows that cloud based provisioning depends on the critical resources within the cloud and can yield the desired QoS performance along with traditional advantages of the Internet including survivability and scalability. We describe algorithms for identification of critical resources in the differentiated service cloud. We also present an admission control algorithm for traffic provisioning at the edge of the cloud
