Abstract
The large number of networked sensors, frequent sensor failures and stringent energy constraints pose unique design challenges for data forwarding in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we present a new approach to data forwarding in sensor networks that effectively addresses these design issues. Our approach organizes sensors into a dynamic, self-optimizing multicast tree-based forwarding hierarchy, which is data centric and robust to node failures. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our design through simulations
