Abstract :
1XTREME (1X ThiRd-generation Enhanced Modulation and Encoding) is proposed as an evolution of IS-2000 cdma cellular radio system supporting both real time and non-real time services on the same carrier frequency with data rates up to 4.84 Mbps. Technologies such as transmit diversity, fast link adaptation, physical layer hybrid ARQ, high order modulation, and fast cell site selection are utilized to achieve a high data rate. We describe the main system features and analyze both the radio link and system performance through Monte Carlo simulations. We demonstrate how adding voice users to the 1XTREME system will gracefully impact on the data throughput
