Abstract :
An integrated resource planning (IRP) formulation has been developed. It aims at identifying an optimum energy supply mix between a simultaneous electric/thermal production system (cogeneration facility) at a ceramics plant and its electric utility energy supply. A technically suitable cogeneration system is selected based on the thermal/electric ratio, the process heat and type of fuel available. This paper provides the end-user and the electric utility with an optimum IRP/DSM tools respectively, thus facilitating the negotiation and development of competitive power exchange agreements
