Abstract :
Since 1992 Edenor has put across a re-organisation process into the organisation. Different projects were started in order to optimise their technical, operative, commercial, financial, and administrative activities. Those projects applied the information systems development (tailor made or pre-programmed packages) to be developed with internal or external suppliers. Accordingly, the organisation entered into a reorganisation process where different kinds of information projects had to be carried out. Into these implementation processes the “Edenor Technical Project” (EPT) was developed. Five years after its implementation, the need of a new review on EPT has emerged in order to adjust the systems to new “business” needs. According to our experience, a “Methodology for the information systems development” will be applied. In the first part of this paper a definition of methodology is detailed, the need to count on methodology for the information systems development is described and its benefits are enumerated. In the second part of this paper are detailed: (a) general characteristics of this methodology and its structures divided into phases, fronts and stages; and (b) the products and documents to be submitted on each phase of the methodology. The final part of this paper deals with the key factors for of the implementation. Points such as management support, training, and management of the change are described
