Abstract :
This paper presents time slot assignment algorithms applicable to the uplink of SDAM systems. In these algorithms, a time slot is assigned to a new terminal depending not only on the signal quality of the new terminal but also on the signal quality of active terminals. We evaluate the blocking probability and the forced termination probability of space division multiple access/time division multiple access (SDMA/TDMA) systems with slot assignment algorithms in a cellular environment. The simulation results show that SDMA/TDMA systems have much better performance than TDMA systems and sectorized systems
