Abstract :
The paper presents cellular network modeling methods for 3rd generation systems using a WCDMA interface. Knowledge of these methods greatly simplifies the network planning. Special attention is given to planning multi-cell networks using linear equations. The various model limitations are presented along with information about the effects of simplifications on the final results. Further parts of the paper present the simulation results based on linear equations, including the power, range, and capacity characteristics of the system. The simulations have been made for various numbers of cells in the system. The analysis is based on the model developed for further investigation within the framework of a doctoral dissertation
