Abstract :
The term QoS is a fuzzy term. When applied to data communication, the measures of the QoS are also fuzzy linguistic measures. Hence, fuzzy logic ought to be exploited as a tool for modeling the communication system and solving its problems. We provide a foundation and overview of the possible utilization of fuzzy logic in the area of QoS data communication. We start by an introduction to the subject, which provides justification of the need for fuzzy logic to be utilized in this area. We follow this by a review of the previous approaches for solving the problems of QoS data routing in general and the problems associated with the inaccuracy in the network state information in particular. We follow this by presenting our proposed approach, which provides the foundation for building a new paradigm for modeling and solving QoS computation problems. We conclude by pointing out several new avenues for research and list some open problems
