Abstract :
This paper proposes a new pattern matching algorithm, fuzzy sequence pattern matching, for sequence data. Often, in real world sequence data pattern matching, exact matches do not occur and an approximate match is needed. The proposed algorithm obtains a similar match by the use of fuzzy membership functions. Especially, in the case of approximate matching with wild cards, current sequence alignment methods are often ineffective. The sequential dataset, zinc finger domain proteins, is used for simulation and the result shows that the proposed algorithm is useful in approximate pattern matching
