Abstract :
To facilitate the design of packet data transmission in CDMA systems using rate adaptation, an expression is developed based on the channel capacity result that can be used to compute the maximum supportable rate for a given channel condition and available system resources. This provides an alternative approach to choose the code rate and modulation more efficiently than simulations. Numerical examples and simulation are included to elaborate the result
