Abstract
A joint adaptive power control and detection algorithm for both the uplink and downlink in OFDM/SDMA wireless LANs is proposed to improve the power and spectral efficiencies. Assuming that all users undergo the same shadow fading, the proposed scheme adaptively updates the powers and the LMMSE spatial filter coefficients of the users for both the forward and reverse links and provides users with an acceptable quality of service (QoS) while minimizing the total transmit power. Simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme compared with the conventional ODFM/SDMA scheme
