Abstract
A channel diversity concept based on a wideband digitizing software autoradio is presented. By utilizing the fact that identical FM radio programs are transmitted at different frequencies and that these can be received at the same time, an improvement in the radio reception of a car receiver can be achieved. In contrast to conventional antenna diversity concepts only one antenna is necessary, reducing the wiring in the car After an introduction to the architecture of a software radio, the concept for channel diversity, its benefit and methods of implementation are discussed. The compensation of the time delay between the different signals is presented, which is considered as the main issue of channel diversity. Finally, the first measurement results of the current set-up system are shown
