Abstract
CDMA/HDR (high data rate) is a radio access technology capable of supporting up to 2.4 Mbps in downlink traffic channels. It has been standardized in 3GPP2 as 1×EV-DO. In this paper, the average throughput of the downlink is analyzed considering several factors. We show that the capacity is dependent upon the traffic intensity, the radius of the cell and the access delay as well as the scheme of assigning slots to active users. Especially, we identify that coverage of the cell is the most important factor that determines the capacity
