Abstract :
It is known that MM-band radar images are affected by the phenomenon of multiplicative noise. This phenomenon decreases the performance of 2D wavelet transform based compression algorithms and it can be improved if suitable denoising algorithm is used as a preprocessing stage. We show that it is expedient to use nonlinear filters at the preprocessing stage. In this paper comparative analysis or application of the local statistic Lee, the standard and modified sigma filters is performed. Simulation results are given for test images
