Abstract :
Experiments which have been carried out have shown that the appearance of foam formations and splashes on the surface of the sea result in a sharp change of the characteristics of scattered radiation of the sea in the microwave band. So, foamed surfaces have a microwave brightness temperature of tens of Kelvins; higher, than clean agitated surfaces of the sea. Thus, the value, of the radiation coefficient depends not only on the relative area of foamed cover, but also on its structural features. Experience has shown that a variety of types and mobility of the foam formations and not always favorable hydrometeorological conditions on the sea, considerably complicate matters. We have investigated dependences of attenuation of electromagnetic waves by foam samples in a wider range of foam ratio (41-104) as well as wavelength band (6 - 8 mm)
