Abstract
Selection/design of multiple access needs to consider a number of factors. TDMA and CDMA are both capable of supporting packet services e.g. GSM and 3G/UMTS. Packet access puts more concern on the speed of access (channel request and channel allocation); higher layers need to cooperate (i.e. reduce the number of layers) and considerable overhead for access is inevitable
