Abstract :
A new generation of high power proton accelerator (HPPA) is being made available. It opens new avenues to a long series of scientific applications in fundamental and applied research, which can make use of the boosted flux of secondary particles. Presently, in Europe, several disciplines are preparing their project of a dedicated facility, based on the upgraded performances of HPPAs. Given the potential synergies between these different projects, for reasons of cost effectiveness, it was considered appropriate to look into the possibility to group a certain number of these applications around a single HPPA: the CONCERT project. The ensuing two-year feasibility study organized in collaboration between the European Spallation Source and the CEA has just started. The EURISOL project and CERN participate in the steering committee
