Abstract :
Shot boundary refinement is the first stage of long transition analysis. Its purpose is to extract the exact transition start and end in a video sequence. This is done by first constructing a reference indicator and then picking up the sharp gradient changes within such an indicator. The parameter used in constructing the reference indicator can vary, and different features can be used, with reference frames set at different positions. This paper examines the effect of varying these parameters, and its implication when applied to transitions with different special effects
