Abstract

In last 5 to 10 years, great progress has been made in automation in China. A new concept - comprehensive automation system - has come into being, which can be simply described as integrating production management systems tightly with process control through various networks. The major characteristic is the synthesis of various techniques and integration of all information within entire enterprise. The main information synthesis techniques which have successfully been applied in metallurgical automation are introduced in the paper, including EIC operation integration, various networkings, MES techniques, etc
