  • Abstract
    Early experiments in India have succeeded in transmitting 200-500 MHz UHF/VHF signals over aerial MV lines (11-66 KV). This paper summarizes the work done in the process - theoretical and experimental. We extend the quasi-TEM analysis to include radiation losses at VHF/UHF frequencies. The results indicate that certain quasi-TEM modes have very low attenuation, even with radiation included. We also present measurements on attenuation in VHF/UHF band on real lines in India. The results indicate huge Gigabit/s scale capacities in the MV aerial grid
