  • Abstract
We show that linear lasing thresholds of the pi-type supermodes in a cyclic array of disks with the lowest-order, i.e. non-whispering-gallery, modes can be greatly reduced by bringing the cavities closer and increasing their number. This is achieved provided that antisymmetry of the electromagnetic field in adjacent disks is the highest possible that implies that their number must be even
