Abstract :
The analysis of fast power transient signals in optical networks is critical for the support of the network operational regime. We propose a novel method that permits the detection and classification of the fast power transients using the wavelet network (WN), combining the properties of a wavelet transform (WT) and an artificial neural networks (ANN). The transients are described qualitatively by means of WT method. Their behavior can be then analyzed using ANN model. The examples of the method implementation are presented
