Abstract
The paper will introduce an analytical modelling technique based on the Laplace transform method (LTM) for simulating optical field propagation. The methodology will be applied to modelling electroabsorption (EA) modulators. The operation of an EA modulator containing a novel terahertz driven multiple quantum well, MQW, will be studied for modulation and pulse generation at high frequencies. Results will be compared with an in-house semi-analytical method applied to both microwave and terahertz driven EA modulators
