Abstract
This paper introduced a newly developed coal flotation collector EDO and its flotation characteristics for five different coals. EDO is an emulsion composed of 27% diesel oil, 70% water and 3% surfactants. The surfactant PGS is synthesized with oil which is environmental favorable and reproducible. Compared flotation experiments show that, at the same dosage, EDO give 2-7% recovery promotion than typical collector with only a slightly ash content increase, but saving 70% diesel oil. Zeta-potential and Wetting heat measurement indicate that the surfactant helps the interactions between oil and coal particles, The industrial application tests in several coal preparation plants demonstrate that EDO is suitable both in technical and economical aspects.
