Abstract :
The IEEE Control Systems Society has created a new journal titled IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems. The journal covers a wide variety of networks including in such application areas as communications, computers, transportation, manufacturing, biology, power systems, and economics. This editorial considers social networks, which is just one of the application areas of interest to the journal. One topic that falls within the control of network systems is the dynamic analysis of the editors, authors, and reviewers in the control community. The author explores the question: "if a control engineer carries out a detailed dynamic analysis of the social network of editors, authors, and reviewers, would the person be able to use this analysis to obtain an unfair advantage over the other individuals in the network?"
