    Recounts in some detail the professional achievements of Vladimir Andreevich Yakubovich. He was one of the first people to start the development of a mathematical theory of adaptive systems. Yakubovich\´s most well-known early paper was "The Solution of Certain Matrix Inequalities in Automatic Control Theory."
