The past decade has transformed computing in astounding ways: Who could have predicted, back in 2004, that cloud computing was about to change so profoundly?to democratize in many respects?the availability of computing, storage, and networking? Who could have imagined the transformation of client computing that resulted from the combination of pay-as-you-go cloud infrastructure for application developers and affordable, powerful, touch-enabled mobile devices?
