Abstract
This paper focuses on shot segmentation algorithms for x264 compressed videos. Through the analysis of x264 video bit stream, we extract the basic encoding information such as the length of group of pictures (GOP), the macro block (MB) type, etc. These parameters show the relevant changing characteristics of video contents when shot abrupt transitions happen. Finally, we conduct the experiment of shot segmentation in ffmpeg player. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can detect shot abrupt transitions effectively.
