Abstract :
A theoretical investigation on radiation patterns of rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) is presented. A simple model using magnetic walls (perfect and/or imperfect) and equivalence principle are utilized to predict the radiation patterns for TEmnpy modes. Approximate solution for the eigenfunction is derived. Closed form expressions of radiation patterns are given. New broadside modes are also identified, hitherto unreported. Radiation Q-factor, gain and bandwidth are also described. Results are compared with measured data or data obtained using 3D EM simulator.
