Abstract
A compact, tuneable laser has been developed by researchers in Japan. The team, from Osaka University and Sumita Optical Glass Inc., used the chromatic aberration of a lens relay and the effective slit-like effect of the optical-fibre core to achieve a simple design which they demonstrated by fabricating an orange laser where a 130 μm adjustment of the cavity output mirror led to a wavelength range of 20 nm.
