  • Abstract
Approximate formulas to calculate the receiving power of small antennas placed within few centimeters around an IC chip radiator are presented and validated. The power is expressed by the dipole moment of a radiator measured using a transverse electromagnetic cell and the effective area (gain) of a small antenna. The results from the formulas and measurements agreed well for single dipole moment to point-source antenna. A practical demonstration of an IC chip to mobile antenna near-field transmission is presented.
