Abstract :
In this paper, it is reported that composition of an atmospheric pressure nitrogen plasma jet is influenced by the nozzle material. Using optical emission spectroscopy and camera observations, it is shown that using a stainless steel nozzle, induces an orange nitrogen emission, whereas a quartz nozzle leads to blue nitric oxide emission, due to the nitridation and oxygen exchange between the reactive nitrogen plasma and the SiO2 surface.
