Abstract :
A compact frequency-reconfigurable narrow-frame antenna for heptaband smartphone applications is presented. The width of the no-ground portion to support the antenna is quite narrow of only 5 mm, which meets the requirements of the popular narrow-frame smartphone designs with larger touchscreens. Moreover, the reconfigurable technology is employed to achieve wide bandwidth coverage with a small volume. By combining two working states, the GSM850/900/1800/1900/UMTS2100/LTE2300/2500 operation is achieved. Detailed considerations of the design are studied in this letter, and the proposed antenna is successfully simulated, fabricated, and measured.
