Abstract :
Excitability in VCSELs under parallel- and orthogonally-polarized optical injection is investigated numerically. Controlled single- and multiple-pulse excitability is found for the two polarizations offering prospects for novel VCSEL-based ultrafast spiking photonic neurons.
