Abstract
Jiaozhou Bay is a semi-closed bay located in Shandong Province, eastern China. Based on investigation data on distribution of Hg content in surface and bottom waters in May 1983, April and October 1985, this paper analyzed the influence of ocean current on Hg content in the bay mouth. Results showed that In case of Hg content in both surface and bottom waters was relative low, low Hg content areas were occurring the both surface and bottom waters in the bay mouth. In case of Hg content was relative high in surface waters, there were a serious of low value centers in the bay mouth, and were decreasing gradiently from the outer to the low value center. In generally, the decreasing degree was determined by the flow rate, and therefore the Hg content could be used as tracer for revealing the flow rate of and transportation strength of ocean current.
