Abstract
Fourth generation networks and beyond have recently emerged to satisfy the increasing demand for high data rates. Cost-effective means have been designed in 3GPP LTE Advanced standard to significantly enhance coverage and capacity. Huge performance gains can be achieved through increasing nodes density with the introduction of small cells, in a concept called Heterogeneous Network (HetNet). Self-Organizing Network (SON) is a new approach aiming at minimizing human efforts. SON functions include: self-configuration, self-optimization and self-healing. In this context, we have focused on self-configuration of new added Femto Cell combined with a new algorithm for three self-optimization functions: Admission Control (AC), Handover (HO) and Load Balancing (LB). Simulation results witness the performance of our approach through the evaluation of some performance parameters such as: average throughput and cell load.
