Abstract :
Since IANA´s IPv4 address pool had run out in 2011, the new Internet Protocol version 6 has been widely deployed in the world. Although IPv6 has many improvements compared to IPv4, it still lacks the possibility to authenticate each packet, making it vulnerable for attacks. In the present article we investigate the efficiency and resources used by Source Address Validation Implementation (SAVI), a security architecture that is being standardized by the IETF and is intended to prevent source address spoofing within a link.
