Abstract
Queueing Networks (QNs) and Stochastic Petri Nets (SPNs) are known to be two powerful (and complementary) graphically-oriented modelling frameworks for communications and complex algorithms. The current paper presents them and some of their extensions, along with the proposition of hybrid networks, a new method that combines the previous formalisms in order to take advantage of their features and at the same time mitigate their drawbacks.
