Abstract :
Energy consumption has always been a hot research topic in wireless sensor networks, in this paper, a novel energy-saving routing protocol based on two-layers routing mechanism is proposed, in which, the first layer adopts the remaining energy centroid algorithm to form clusters and elect the cluster heads, and the second layer adopts multi-hop transmission to guarantee that the cluster heads can transmit data to the base station along an optimal path. Simulation results show that our new algorithm has better performance than some traditional methods such as LEACH, HEED etc., and can reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes and prolong the Lifecycle of the whole wireless sensor networks at the same time.
