Abstract :
This paper reports on the design and initial evaluation of an “EnergyRace” web application which can also be implemented as a Facebook application. It was considered that competitions and common goals and collaboration can help encourage users for more energy saving and social media make for a more enjoyable user experience and collaboration among family members can provide future benefits as children - consumers of tomorrow - look at the proper energy aware behavior of their elder family members. The system connects to the smart meters in different households and data is collected automatically.
