  • Abstract
    Failures or catastrophic events in power transformers, which result in a negative economic impact on electric companies, must be controlled and limited. An important tool to deal with this issue is asset management. The asset life cycle management and the assessment of involved risk in each one of the life stages is very important, if an electric company is looking for the implementation of an asset management system. I.e., this allows for identifying what actions over each unit of the power transformer fleet add value to the organization, improve service quality and increase reliability of the power system. This article describes some of the main considerations for the management of power transformers. Presented concepts are developed in the general framework of the standards ISO 55000.
