Abstract :
In this paper, we present a detailed analysis of a draining tank filled with a certain fluid by means of numerical simulations. All calculations were performed using interactive software developed by the authors in Python programming language. This computer code was made in the context of the final project of Physics I course for Computer Engineering career of the National University Arturo Jauretche (UNAJ). We have investigated the variations of the time to drain a tank as a function of the initial height of the fluid, for different size of the outlet opening and acceleration of gravity. The developed code can be used for educational purposes to help students improve understanding of physical phenomenon related to the hydrodynamics of a specific system.
