Abstract :
We fabricate highly nonlinear and mechanically robust step-index chalcogenide nanotapers with large core-cladding index contrast. Using femtosecond pulses at 2-micron wavelength from a thulium fiber laser, mid-infrared supercontinuum spanning more than an octave was generated.
