Abstract
In this work, the static performance of the Cordoba power system is analyzed, considering the 2015 Argentinean scenario. This year is characterized by the scheduled outage of Embalse Nuclear Power Plant; this plant is responsible for controlling the voltage of the central zone of the country (San Luis and Cordoba). In consequence, a remarkable deterioration of the power quality supply is produced; particularly at the voltage levels of lines and bus bars. In order to mitigate this problem, two solutions are proposed: the first one consists of the dispatch of Rio Grande Hydroelectric Power Plant as a Synchronous Condenser; the second one proposes Magnetically Controlled Shunt Reactors for controlling the voltage of lines and bars of the power system. Then, a comparison between the solutions is made, highlighting advantages and disadvantages.
