Abstract
Passive Radar systems use the target illumination by third-party transmitters, e.g. FM radio or terrestrial TV broadcast stations, for target detection and localisation. In 2010 Airbus Defence & Space initiated the development of a mobile multiband Passive Radar demonstrator, processing FM (analogue radio), DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) and DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcast-Terrestrial) waveforms in real-time. The Passive Radar vehicle possesses an integrated mast system and accommodates the electronic equipment as well as the operator´s work station. For providing a 3D air picture Passive Radar sensors can be operated stand-alone or netted in a multi sensor configuration to enhance areal coverage and to increase localisation accuracy.
