Abstract :
This paper reviews the published documents related to the dynamic range of an SFRA measurement. Moreover, it presents recent measurements and analysis of dynamic range performed at the HV lab to understand the behavior of internal noise, dynamic range and their role in SFRA measurements. To ensure a reliable SFRA measurement, especially for OPEN LV measurements from the HV side, it is important to use a device with enough accuracy to cover the range from +20 dB to -100 dB. In order to satisfy this requirement, a minimum internal noise floor of -120 dB is required to provide a usable dynamic range from +20 to -100 dB. A field verification unit with known frequency response can be used to verify the useful range of an instrument and cables before performing the actual test.
